Мельница (Melnitsa, signifying “plant”) is a folk musical gang from Moscow, Russia, framed in 1999 by Natalia “Hellawes” O’Shea and Alexey “Chus” Sapkov around the remainders of a neighborhood folk band called Till Eulenspiegel.

The band wires Russian, Irish and other North European folk impacts with pop/shake sounds. Natalia “Hellawes” O’Shea, the lead artist and essential musician, is a scholarly and a pro in medieval European dialects and societies by day. Her mastery loans the ordinarily mind boggling dream loaded verses a level of validness.

For the initial quite a long while the band had worked the club and celebration circuit, earned a decent faction status in the folk-n-dream young sub-culture and discharged an acoustic collection Doroga Sna (Дорога Сна, The Road of Dream) including the underground hit Gorets (Горец, Highlander) set to the Russian interpretation of Robert Burns’ Highland Harry Back Again.

Karma struck in 2005, when the lead single Nochnaya Kobyla (Ночная Кобыла, Night female horse) off their second, progressively pop-imbued collection Pereval (Перевал, Mountain Pass) had been sneaked into revolution on Nashe Radio (the name and verses of the tune are a mind boggling suggestion to Mara, a Norse legendary element that caused bad dreams). A grass-roots graph exertion by fans pushed the tune to #1 position in the “Best Of Year” diagram, and the band to the little field circuit (scantily populated in Russia).
